Following the 7th of December, 2010, the British Deputy High Commission launched the TIER 4 System for UK visas. The UK Student Visa application should be submitted at the nearest VFS Application centre. At the time of file submission, all original documents (IELTS score card, all academic, proof of finance, and other original documents) should be submitted. This entire package has been forwarded to the British Deputy High Commission. The High Commission examines all documents and verifies them; if they are satisfied, they stamp the visa directly. In some cases, the high commission conducts a telephone or in-person interview. It is not guaranteed that the student will be called for an interview and, if satisfied, will be granted a visa.
Tier 4 of the points-based system has two student categories:
If you are enrolled in a bachelor’s degree programme or higher at a UK college that is listed on both the official ‘UKBA Sponsor list’ and the list of recognized bodies, you may work up to 20 hours per week for (Tier 4 General) and work full-time during vacations or summer holidays.
Students should be aware that the UK Visa is a point-based visa system, and that applicants must meet all of the Immigration Rules and have a total of 40 points.
Factor | Points |
Students are required to have a valid Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies from a fully licensed Tier 4 sponsor | 50 points |
Students should have enough money to cover course fees and monthly living costs (also known as maintenance or funds) | 10 points |
English language proficiency | 10 points |
The entry requirements for international students will vary depending on the programme. Although this page will provide you with some useful information about what is required to gain admission to UK courses, you should inquire specifically about any course that you are interested in.
